Hydratec subsidiary acquires Abar Automation BV
AMSTERDAM – for immediate release
Amsterdam-based food equipment manufacturer ABAR Automation BV has been sold to Dutch industrial group Hydratec Industries NV, in a deal advised by international M&A advisor BCMS.
ABAR Automation is a leading manufacturer of ‘end-of-line’ handling systems, supplying major food processors with specialised robotic equipment to pick and pack meat and fresh produce.
The acquisition of ABAR Automation – for an undisclosed sum – is via Hydratec subsidiary Lan Handling Systems, a global specialist in handling systems for the food and pharmaceuticals industries, and completed today (3 July 2015).
Hydratec CEO Bart Aangenendt said: “This acquisition fits perfectly in Hydratec’s growth ambition within the agri & food systems. ABAR’s technological know-how and their specific knowledge in the food industry is a very good addition to Lan’s current activities.”
Steve Rutherford, Operations Director for ABAR Automation added: “Our market is growing fast, and we are delighted to have found a strategic partner to take our business to the next level. We are looking forward to working with Lan Handling Systems to offer complementary solutions to our combined client base.”
BCMS Benelux Managing Director Derk Kropholler, sole advisor to ABAR, commented: “The two parties fit together perfectly, creating a Dutch champion in a fast-growing niche in the process. We’re delighted to have found a new home for ABAR, and wish them well under new ownership.”
