Hawk-Woods sold to Upergy

French group Upergy has announced that it has completed the acquisition of 100% of the capital of UK company Hawk-Woods, which specialises in manufacturing advanced battery systems for the global film and television industry. BCMS advised the shareholders of Hawk-Woods throughout the transaction.

Headquartered in Ashford, Kent, Hawk-Woods has decades of expertise in the design and development of innovative power distribution solutions and products, specifically tailored to the needs of camera, sound and lighting equipment customers working in the media and entertainment industries.

Deal insights

At the time of the transaction in 2019, Hawk-Woods projected a growth rate of more than 35%, alongside an operating margin of ~40%, with exports accounting for around one-third of revenues.

Established in 1996 and Listed on EURONEXT (EPA: ALUPG), Upergy is a major French group specialising in the distribution of consumable, essential and non-strategic products in the field of autonomous energy. Alongside Hawk-Woods, its portfolio of brands includes Allbatteries, Enix and Microbatt.

This acquisition is in line with Upergy’s long-term strategic plan, which aims to strengthen the group’s international positioning in high-value B2B segments.
