Watermeadow Medical sold to UDG Healthcare plc
UDG Healthcare plc, a leading international provider of services to healthcare manufacturers and the pharmaceutical industry, has acquired the entire issued share capital of Watermeadow Medical Limited and Watermeadow Medical Consulting Inc. BCMS advised the vendors throughout the transaction, which completed in 2012, and had a stated total consideration of up to £13 million.
Watermeadow, with 74 staff based in Manchester and New York, delivered medical communications services to blue chip international healthcare companies, including strategic planning to tactical implementation of communications services, including publications, events and medical education. These services include medical writing and preparation of promotional and educational materials typically for products pre-launch.
The acquisition enhanced UDG’s medical communications capability and global offering for its international pharmaceutical manufacturer customers. At the time of the transaction, UDG announced that all Watermeadow employees would remain with the business and Watermeadow would be integrated into the Group’s Sales, Marketing & Medical division.
UDG’s Chief Executive, Liam FitzGerald said: “We are delighted to announce the acquisition of Watermeadow. The acquisition will allow us to continue to grow our medical communications business as we seek to broaden the range of services we provide to our international pharmaceutical manufacturer customers. Watermeadow has an excellent reputation in the market and I am delighted to welcome them to the Group.”
Today, Watermeadow is one of the larger brands within UDG’s Ashfield Healthcare Communications organisation, and is a market leader in the field. It is part of an organisation with a presence in more than 20 countries, supporting healthcare professionals and patients at all stages of the product life cycle.
