Action Pumps sold to Tricel
Irish engineering group Tricel has increased its UK market share with the acquisition of pump manufacturer Action Pumps Ltd, in a deal advised by BCMS.
Founded in Portsmouth in the 1980s, Action Pumps is a nationwide company specialising in the manufacture of packaged pump sets for pressure boosting and transfer applications, as well as managing the full service of distribution, installation and maintenance of pumps, pressurisation, expansion products and all related ancillary components.
“The support we got was fantastic. BCMS would push at the right times, and chase at the right times” – Kevin Dunford, Action Pumps
Headquartered in Kerry, Ireland, Tricel is a global provider of high-performance solutions for the Water, Environmental, Construction and Distribution industries, and serves over 50 countries worldwide with its extensive range of offerings.
The acquisition, which completed in 2018, facilitated the delivery of enhanced product offerings and industry knowledge to Tricel’s wide range of customers. Action Pumps shares many of the company’s core values, and this acquisition offers valuable collaboration opportunities across Tricel’s ever-growing product portfolio.
Deal commentary
Action Pumps Managing Director Andy Parks said: “We are excited with the opportunities this integration into the group extends to Action Pumps. It provides us with the ability to leverage the group’s global presence and resources and accelerate our growth within the UK Water industry.
“As a result of this acquisition, our companies will continue to enhance and expand the essential relationships we have with our customers and partners, who will now have access to an extensive portfolio of water products and services. We are dedicated to maintaining and increasing the quality of innovation, support, and service that are shared goals across the two companies.”
Commenting on BCMS’ role in the transaction, Action Pumps’ shareholder Kevin Dunford added: “The support we got was fantastic, there’s no doubt about that. Our lead advisor was a real godsend to us at times because he’d answer a lot of the questions we didn’t really want to answer. He would go back to the buyer and be able to word the response correctly, and push at the right times, and chase at the right times.”
