
DSP Design sold to Season Group
Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) provider Season Group has acquired Chesterfield-based DSP Design. BCMS advised the shareholders of DSP throughout the transaction.
Based at the Tapton Park Innovation Centre in Chesterfield, DSP Design specialises in the design, manufacture and supply of standard, as well as custom-made, embedded computer systems to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
Founded in the mid-1980s by Charles Palmer, the company was headed up by Kath Deas. At the time of the transaction in 2012, Deas commented: “I am delighted to see the company move forward in the next phase of its development. It is a fantastic business that I firmly believe will continue to lead the way in computer-embedded technology for many years to come.”
The acquirer, Season Group, is a global vertically integrated EMS provider, dedicated to providing complete customised manufacturing and engineering services worldwide. With facilities in Mexico, UK, China and Malaysia, Season Group has over 800,000 sq ft of manufacturing space and over 1500 employees, and operates in sectors including aerospace, automotive, telecoms and medical/life sciences.
