Electronic Motion Systems sold to KSR International Co

Electronic Motion Systems UK Ltd, a key supplier to the UK automotive industry, has been acquired by Canada-based KSR International Co. (KSR), in a transaction managed by BCMS.

Electronic Motion Systems Ltd (EMS) serves Tier 1 automotive suppliers worldwide, as a developer and manufacturer of automotive power modules and electronic control units. Swansea-based EMS’ products are utilised within leading consumer vehicle marques including Ford, Peugeot, Citroën, and Chrysler. The company also operates a development centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

KSR is a global Tier One automotive supplier, specialising in the design, engineering and manufacturing of bumper-to-bumper electronic sensors, as well as pedal assemblies. Headquartered in Ontario, Canada, KSR has operations in Brazil, China, Czech Republic, Germany, Mexico, South Korea and the USA.

Deal commentary

At the time of the transaction, which completed in 2014, Rolf Dahlmanns, Managing Director of EMS, said: “Working with BCMS was essential for EMS to find the right acquirer. Because of their worldwide network they got in contact with companies we didn’t know about. We are now looking forward to growing the business further as part of KSR International.”
