Campbell Collins sold to Berkshire Hathaway’s TTI Inc

TTI, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, has acquired Campbell Collins Limited, in a transaction managed on behalf of the vendors by BCMS.

Based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, Campbell Collins is a specialist distributor of power-related products from manufacturers of power supply and capacitor products. The company is a design-in distributor for a number of leading manufacturers including Gaia Converter and Ericsson Power Modules, as well as KEMET companies including BHC, Arcotronics and Evox Rifa, operating in the military, aerospace, medical, transportation, industrial and telecom/datacom marketplaces.

Deal insights

This deal is an excellent example of major North American acquirers targeting UK specialist companies as a route into new markets. “I am pleased to be integrating the 30-years of experience and specialty offered by the Campbell Collins team into our European strategy,” said Gene Conahan, President TTI Europe and Asia at the time of the transaction in 2012. “The collaboration of the TTI and Campbell Collins team of product experts will open new market segments for us and our existing suppliers and help build a sound and successful power solution business in Europe.”

TTI Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway company, is a specialist distributor of passive, interconnect, electromechanical and discrete semiconductor components for industrial and consumer electronic manufacturers worldwide. Its product line includes resistors, capacitors, connectors, potentiometers, trimmers, magnetics, circuit protection, filters, electromechanical and discrete semiconductor devices.
