Wanda Creative Ltd has recently been acquired by German buyer Bohnacker Store Solutions with support and advice from BCMS Kingsbrook.

Headquartered in Blaubeuren, Germany, Bohnacker Store Solutions is a shop fit-out and retail design consultancy that offers services worldwide. Bohnacker Store Solutions offers everything under one roof; analysis, consultancy and planning, production, logistics and installations. The company offers over 35 years of shop design experience and employs a 70-strong team from offices in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and Spain.

Established in 1982 by Franz Heindler, Bohnacker Store Solutions began as a vision for ‘cost-effective and flexible shop outfitting in the form of modular systems.’ Franz began by furnishing toy, shoe and stationery shops. When the company began to expand Franz rented disused railway carriages for storage space. In 2011 Claus Saumweber acquired Bohnacker Store Solutions from Franz Heindler and has grown the company to revenues in excess of €20m.

Based in London, Wanda Creative has over 30 years’ experience delivering commercially successful retail and travel retail environments. Wanda Creative is renowned for being inquisitive, using their imagination, precision, control and realisation. It has worked with major named clients including Harrods and Thomas Cook. Wanda Creative's significant specialism in travel retail has witnessed the development of new trading formats for WH Smith, Hamley’s and Harrods within all London Heathrow’s Terminals along with many UK and overseas 'duty-free' stores.

Directors of Wanda Creative, Michael Foley, Roger Cooke and Lisa Brown saw an opportunity for Wanda to grow within the retail design sector. Lisa is continuing to work within the business as managing director, while the other two felt it was time to step back and spend time with their families.

Michael Foley commented: "Wanda has been a fantastic journey and the business has built its reputation over the years delivering commercially successful trading concepts both on the high street and in travel retail. This is a very exciting time for Wanda and we look forward to witnessing the next stages of the companies journey under Bohnacker Store Solutions' stewardship."

Michael will be staying on for the foreseeable future with Lisa continuing as MD, as she enters the next chapter in her Wanda career, having joined the company as a graduate over a decade ago.

Claus Saumweber from Bohnacker Store Solutions said: "Wanda Creative was a natural fit for Bohnacker Store Solutions. We already have offices in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain and France, and the addition of Wanda Creative will help us to expand within the UK market especially the travel retail sector. Wanda possesses similar values to ours, to put as much commitment and passion into every shop design project and make it unique to the customers' requirements, which is why we felt they were a good match for us."

BCMS Kingsbrook advised Wanda Creative with legal advice from Harrison Clark Rickerbys. The price and terms of the deal are undisclosed.

BCMS Kingsbrook Lead Advisor Andy Hunt: "Wanda Creative is a great company with great ethics, a substantial team and fantastic experience within the specialist travel retail market. They have achieved some outstanding results, maintain a prestige reputation and continue to win some great contracts with premium brands. The travel retail sector provides the greatest element for growth and a fantastic opportunity for the combined companies. It has been a joy to work with both seller and buyer alike and we wish them the very best for the next chapter of the Wanda/Bohnacker story."
