WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND?
Prior to joining BCMS, I worked for Organic Monitor, a UK-based market research and consulting firm. Before that, I worked at a financial consulting company in Mumbai, India as a Research Analyst. I studied Engineering (Electronic and Telecommunication) at the University of Mumbai, where I also completed a Postgraduate Masters in Management Studies.
WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AT BCMS?
I am a Research Analyst. Put simply, my work involves assembling a detailed list of potential acquirers for our clients. Key to my role is understanding our clients’ businesses and their motivation for selling. I use world-leading business intelligence resources – alongside our own unique BCMS database – to profile a huge range of companies. But the human factor is key too – a great researcher needs to learn how to think laterally!
In addition, as a researcher, I am uniquely positioned to support BCMS and our clients in delivering a wide range of analysis and business intelligence, such as industry trends, reports and market analysis.
WHAT ASPECTS OF YOUR WORK DO YOU ENJOY MOST?
No two days are the same. Our clients operate in a variety of sectors and industries, and my role offers me a perfect opportunity to learn about a range of industries, companies, and market activities.
Every company is unique, so we tailor and customise our research lists for every client, using all the best available market intelligence, and consult with them at every stage, explaining our reasoning.
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO WORKING IN M&A?
The industry is very dynamic. A single transaction can change the way a sector operates. No matter how digitalised the world gets, in M&A, transactions happen between people.
HOW DOES YOUR ROLE HELP BCMS CLIENTS?
I believe research is the first step in finding the right potential buyer, and it is a fascinating and complicated process.
A BCMS research list focuses on three core areas: synergy, the location and the financial health of the potential acquirer. At the same time, a BCMS research list includes companies that may be complementary to the client’s business. In addition, I also look for any previous activity and acquisitions that may influence a potential acquirer’s strategy.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE WORKING AT BCMS?
The BCMS team is very supporting and helpful. The staff at BCMS have incredibly different commercial backgrounds and one can draw a lot from their experience. Everyone in the business is very supportive and provides continuous encouragement.
