The two leading channel partners of Siemens Industry Software in the UK have joined forces to create the largest sales, consultancy and technical support organisation for Siemens Design, Simulation, Manufacturing and Product Lifecycle Management software in the UK and Ireland – in a transaction managed by BCMS.

Cutting Edge Solutions, based in Witney in Oxfordshire and founded in 1997, is one of the longest-serving Siemens Industry Software resellers worldwide. Majenta PLM, based in Cranfield in Bedfordshire, is one of the few Platinum resellers in Europe and the UK and Ireland’s largest. Both companies serve clients across a range of industries spanning automotive, transportation, aerospace, defence, marine, electronics, energy, industrial machinery, consumer products, and medical devices.

The combined companies have proven success in improving the processes of design and manufacturing companies through the implementation of digitalisation technologies with over 21 years’ experience. This new organisation is now one of the largest Siemens Industry Software resellers worldwide. Working together, Cutting Edge and Majenta PLM will pool resources and expertise to provide greater capacity and flexibility to their thousands of customers in the UK & Ireland and throughout Europe.

Allan Blackwell, Managing Director, Cutting Edge Solutions said: “We have long contemplated the value of this merger for our customers, Siemens and our staff in equal measure. Both businesses share a common goal to provide first class products and services. This amalgamation will allow us to capitalise on the growth potential of the ever-expanding Siemens product portfolio and industry trend towards digitalisation.

“The acquisition presented an opportunity to add significant scale and is backed by BGF, the UK’s most active and influential investor in small and mid-sized companies. BGF, who were introduced by Mirada Corporate Partners, were able move quickly to support our ambitions. We are pleased to have them on board as our new long-term partner.”

Mark Parry, Managing Director, Majenta PLM said: “This merger, through many years of discussions, is the perfect scenario for both companies. We have been working together successfully on numerous projects which is evident by our annual UK Solid Edge event that is one of the largest in the world. It proves that when two companies have the same synergy and shared vision come together, even greater things can happen. We would now like to share our combined experience to all design and manufacturing companies in the UK & Ireland, and Europe with this new-found capacity.”

Alex Snodgrass, an investor at BGF who joins the board of Cutting Edge said: “Cutting Edge and Majenta PLM operate in a highly specialised field, and have developed first class reputations for innovation, professionalism and expertise. We believe this will be the first step in an exciting journey for the combined company and we are delighted to be supporting Allan, Mark and the wider team.”

Nick Farrall, UK Indirect Sales Director for Siemens Industry Software Limited said: “As two of Siemens oldest and most trusted partners, the joint capability of the combined organisations will give customers access to a larger combined resource pool of consulting, support and customer service people.  We look forward to the new organisation having more presence in the market to provide the specialist technical capability required to deliver Siemens PLM solutions.”

Majenta PLM was advised by Nick Lankester, with legal advice by Freeths LLP.

Nick added: “The rationale for merging Majenta PLM and Cutting Edge is compelling, and with the backing of BGF we are convinced the combined entity will quickly become a major force in the industry. We wish them all the best for this exciting new chapter.”
