Water treatment supplier sold to Belgian group
A leading UK supplier of water treatment equipment has been sold to a Belgium-headquartered international group, in a deal advised by BCMS.
Pollet Water Group (PWG) has acquired Cambridgeshire-based UVO3 from founders Peter and Jill Wadsworth for an undisclosed sum.
Ultra violet water treatment technology is rapidly growing in popularity as an alternative to conventional chemical and filtration treatment. Initially used in medical sanitation, UV sterilisation is now used commercially by companies in drinking water, industrial processes and waste water.
Founded in 2002 by water industry veteran Peter Wadsworth, UVO3 is a leading supplier of UV disinfection equipment to households and installation contractors, including its own best-selling brand Atlas UV.
PWG has been supplying components and complete water systems since 1975, with operations in 20 countries and over 800 employees. The group already has a presence in the UK market, and UVO3 will remain a standalone operation within PWG.
PWG President Jacques Pollet said: “The integration of UVO3 into PWG should enable us to provide customers with even better deliveries and services. And with the additional resources of PWG will help UVO3 grow and develop new products and markets for UV technology.”
Sofie Pollet and Peter Evans have been appointed as directors, while Peter and Jill Wadsworth will remain at UVO3 in a consultancy role for the next six months to ensure a smooth transition of ownership.
Peter Wadsworth commented: “Both Jill and I are looking forward to handing over the business and going to do something else, knowing that UVO3 is in great shape with strong margins and a very bright future.”
BCMS advised the founders, and BCMS Deal Leader Mark Lucas said afterwards: “We are often one of the first to help industries grow by connecting SME clients with larger acquirers and investors to help them scale up. Peter and Jill were great clients, and Pollet Water is an emerging international player in a fragmented market, so we will be watching developments in this sector with interest.”
