
Associate Director
Employee-owned corporate finance advisor BCMS is seeking an experienced M&A professional to lead our portfolio of SME/Mid-market transactions on a day-to-day basis. This is an exciting senior role, at a dynamic, growing corporate finance firm, with a unique working culture.
BCMS works across multiple sectors, advising ambitious privately owned businesses seeking growth capital or a business sale.
Reporting to and working closely with a Transactions Director, you’ll be acting as the principal contact for all parties to a transaction (our client, potential buyers, and other external advisors). You will also be responsible for managing/coaching the members of the BCMS team supporting you.

Who are we looking for?
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
- A minimum of four years’ relevant transaction experience and training in a corporate finance/transactions environment
- A strong track record of successfully leading and completing sale mandates for owner-managed businesses
- ACA, ACCA, or an equivalent accountancy qualification is desirable but not essential, providing financial experience and acumen can be demonstrated
- Experience in working with operational and financial models, including for business valuations and transaction closing purposes
- Experience in coordinating and managing a team
- A strong track record and recent experience in raising third-party debt finance and establishing a trusted network in the space
- Prior experience working with entrepreneurs
What does the role entail?

- Understanding our clients’ needs and exit readiness in the assessment and preparation phase, providing value to clients through honest insights, factual conclusions, and commercial advice
- Working to identify and qualify potential strategic buyers, develop compelling profiles to present to our clients
- Managing the approach to and contacting approved potential buyers and investors to assess their interest in acquiring/investing in our client’s business
- Managing the preparation of various forms of deal-related financial analyses, including P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, normalised working capital and completion funds flows
- Leading the transaction negotiation with interested parties, negotiating improvements to terms where possible, and negotiating deal structures including surplus cash/ net debt calculations
- Proactively managing and driving the process through due diligence, closely liaising with other advisors, and taking the lead in negotiating all commercial aspects of the SPA through to deal completion
- Developing your pipeline of opportunities, taking responsibility for relationship development with potential clients
